Mother Nature at it Again!

River View 2009 785Well – Mother nature still rules!  I can’t believe the amount of rain we’ve had!  Sure makes running a campground complicated!

We welcomed the Canadian Motorcycle Cruisers – London Chapter to the campground this weekend.  I’m afraid all their plans didnt go through but they seemed to be able to weather the rain fairly well!  Thank you guys – we enjoyed your visit to River View.

We also had karoake Saturday with the usual great voices!  Thanks to Ron, Mike, Tammy, Cody, Tim and Raili for your entertainment.   Special mention to ” Bobbett” and her dark locks!

Thanks to the kids that helped me set up the rec hall and clean it up the next day!  – Laura, Katie, Kyle, Nathan and Chris – I always appreciate your help.

Let’s keep our fingers crossed for the next weekend!  Come on Mother Nature!  Give us a break!

Christmas at River View – Ho Ho Ho!

Well Mother Nature couldnt stop Santa from making his stop at River View Campground today!  Between rain drops, Santa arrived – went for a hay ride with Christmas caroling – and gifts for all the good boys and girls at River View.

We want to send out an extra thank you to Santa, Laura for all her work and Laura’s helpers – Kyle and Katie!

Santa even made a return performance later in the day – for one great little boy who missed Santa earlier in the day!

Santa even took the time to visit the lawn dart tournament and visit with a couple especially good girls – Margaret and Kerrie!

Thanks again Santa! See you next year!

Canada Day Weekend!

Duke - The Mascot

Duke - The Mascot

Well we started out having great weather!  Friday and Saturday were beautiful.  Hot days – cooler nights with the stars shining.  Then Sunday  – Mother Nature decided to take charge and rain again…  Sunday afternoon so far has been great!  We had some past campers come back  for the weekend.  They couldnt believe the changes!  We’ve come a long way!

Lawn dart tournament on Saturday was great fun!  We’re still trying to get the pool open.  Its always a fight to get it clear and ready for everyone!   Hopefully by Tuesday!

Well wishes to Nickla – surgery again on Friday!  We’ll keep our fingers crossed for you!  Get well wishes to Norm – banged up in an accident at work!  Take care of yourself Norm!

The official Canada Day holiday is Wednesday July 1st.  Some people had Friday off,  some Monday and the rest Wednesday.  It makes for a really long weekend for us.

Happy Canada Day Everyone!

Rain – Rain – Go Away!

Gracie

Gracie

Rain – rain – go away!  I think we’ve had enough.  Mother Nature sure takes charge!  The positive side of all this is the beautiful flowers and the trees are looking great! I finally have small pockets of shade in my back yard from my new trees from three years ago!

We found a ophaned fawn this past weekend and we passed her onto to the authorites for her safe keeping.  I only had her “Gracie” for one night – but I fell in love!  They are so gentle.

Bless you Mother Nature!

No Rain Weekend at River View Campground

Doves

Doves

Well – this is the first weekend in a long time – with no rain!  Hopefully I havent put a curse on the weekend.

Lots done this weekend!  Don and Cathy have made great progress on cabin 3 – our second cabin to be turned into weekend or weekly rentals!

Tim James was wonderful and took his first Saturday off in weeks and installed our new screen/projector and Wii game.

Our first bowling tournament is tonight!

My baby doves are almost ready to leave me.  They have been great company for me and I’ve watched them daily grow!  Time moves on….

Great night for a campfire – Laura will be having a marshmallow roast and story time tonight with the children – while the adults compete in our bowling tournament.

Mother Nature at Work at River View

River View 2009 544It never fails to amaze me how beautiful “Mother Nature” is!  The leaves are out and green, the flowers are in blume and the birds are back!

I have never seen a dove nest and the photo of this one and her new youngsters is beautiful.  Mom took over a robins nest and she never moves off the nest!  I assume its “Daddy” that brings her meals!

What a beautiful time of year!  Enjoy everyone!

First Weekend in June at River View Campground

Nature at its Best!

Nature at its Best!

What a great weekend!  Sunny during the day – cool, clear nites – great for camp fires and spending time with good friends!

Lots of activities – fishing, ATV’ing , ladder ball and hiking.  Everyone is cutting their grass, adding flowers to their gardens and walking their dogs.  Life is good!

The children are looking forward to ending their school year soon and spending the sunny summer days at River View!
